SharePoint has come a very long way since it debuted, and the development story is no different. If you have to do any development on SharePoint 2007 or earlier, it’s fairly safe to say you hated the experience. SharePoint 2010 made things much easier and introduced some new components that allowed for front-end development, like the ECMAScript Object Model, later renamed the JavaScript Object Model.
