Browser Bugs

CSS is the best way to format Web pages, and Internet Explorer 6 for Windows is the world's most popular browser…so why doesn't IE 6 do a better job displaying CSS? That's a question for the ages, but one thing's for sure: You'd be holding a thinner book if it didn't have to devote so much paper to IE workarounds. (And the following Web sites would go out of business.)

  • Mac IE 5: Problems with CSS Rendering: http://www.l-c-n.com/IE5tests. This book doesn't cover Internet Explorer 5 for the Mac, since it's just about a dead browser. Microsoft is no longer updating it or even providing technical support, giving Mac fans a perfect excuse to switch to the superior Safari and Firefox browsers.
