Chapter 14. Where Quality Falls Short: Report Bugs

In this chapter, let's look at a test process that, while primarily internal to the test team, produces results that are highly visible: the bug reporting process. In a sense, bug reports are the primary tangible product of the testing process itself, solid technical documentation that describes a failure mode in the system under test that could affect the customer's experience of quality.[1] Each bug report should provide management with the information they need to decide the priority of the bug. For those bugs deemed worth fixing, each bug report should provide the programmer with the information she needs to fix the underlying bug.
