AFTER FINISHING AN ILLUSTRIOUS forty-year career at Harvard Business School, Georges Doriot sat back and watched as the accolades began pouring in. The President and Fellows of Harvard University appointed Doriot Professor of Industrial Management, Emeritus. His students also paid tribute to the school’s most influential and popular professor. In May 1966, the Harvard Business School Club of New York named Doriot the Business Statesman of the Year and feted him with a dinner party at the Waldorf Astoria hotel.
