EPILOGUE

Even though it had been nearly twenty years since Georges Doriot passed away, the General could still draw a large and distinguished crowd. It was October 8, 2005, and the French Library, the cultural center that he and Edna had dedicated their lives to building, was holding a tribute to Doriot on the occasion of its sixtieth anniversary. More than a hundred friends, colleagues, and admirers showed up at the Library on this unusually warm, humid evening to pay homage to the man who had played such a significant role in their personal histories—and in the history of America’s twentieth century.
