Reassess Strategies and the Strategic Planning Process

Purpose of Step

The purpose of this final step is to review implemented strategies and the strategic planning process as a prelude to a new cycle of strategic planning. Much of the work of this phase may have occurred as part of the ongoing implementation process. However, if an organization has not engaged in strategic planning for a while, it may be useful to mark off this step as a separate one.

In this step you need to reassess strategies—and the strategic issues that prompted them—in order to decide what should be done about them. Strategies may need to be maintained, superseded by other strategies, or terminated for one reason or another.
