Special Lighting Devices

 

Certain items require to be specially lit if they are to be seen to advantage. Some may require illumination from behind, others from the side and yet others from the true front with no shadows. The devices described here were designed for these sort of special applications.*

Axial lighting

Positioned in front of the camera at 45 degrees to the axis of the lens a fifty-fifty mirror or even a sheet of glass will bounce light from one side on to the object being recorded. This arrangement is particularly useful where there is a need to suppress shadows.
