Water in the Studio

 

Effects requiring the use of water in the studio range from ‘leaking taps’ to epic scenes involving thousands of gallons of water. Rarely are large effects recorded in TV studios, it being more usual to pre-film them on movie stages equipped with tanks. Nevertheless, quite large areas of TV studio floors are occasionally dressed with shallow tanks representing lakes or rivers.

The simplest method of containing water on the studio floor is to lay down scene cloth or hessian (burlap) on which is placed a seamless sheet of heavy-gauge plastic, supported at its perimeter by planks.
