My 40-Year Search for Soul

My search for corporate soul began when I landed in a county jail 40 years ago. I had just returned from a tour of duty with Army intelligence in Vietnam, terribly disillusioned by the dehumanization I had experienced and observed in the streets of Saigon, and had taken a job as the director of Rehabilitation for the Kalamazoo County Jail. I had a staff of 14 people working in the basement of the jail, helping inmates improve their level of physical, emotional, and intellectual functioning. We found corporations that would take a risk on some of our “graduates” and hire them for entry-level jobs.
