After Effects CS4 and CS5 come with a powerful third-party motion tracking system: mocha for After Effects. Rather than tracking individual points, with mocha you define a “plane” – a flat surface with obvious features – for it to follow, often yielding better results. From this, mocha can create transform or corner pin data as well as mattes that may be exported for use in After Effects. After Effects CS5 also comes with the mocha shape effect, which makes it easier to transfer complex mattes from mocha into After Effects.
