About the Author

When asked what led to his development of the perspective known as leaderful practice, Joe Raelin acknowledged that he has been working on it during his entire adult life. In the 1960s and 1970s, while associated with the human potential movement, he incorporated into his personal and professional life the ultimate democratic belief that no one affected by a decision should be left out of that decision, be it in its design or implementation. From that origin, Raelin extended his thinking about leaderful behavior through a counseling master’s degree followed later by a Ph.D., which rounded out his ongoing consulting practice in organizational development and change.
