“I was afraid to disagree”

At a community board meeting, the president asked, “How's morale around here?” The first person to respond said, “On a scale of one to ten, I'd say it was an eight.” After that, everyone said either seven or eight.

When my turn came, I really wanted to tell the truth and say, “Around three or four,” but I was afraid to disagree. After the meeting, several other members told me they also felt the morale was bad but were reluctant to speak up.
