CHAPTER 6Putting Things On-the-Table

How do you go about putting something covert on-the-table for open engagement? Think about setting a table for dinner, preparing an attractive and delicious meal, creating an atmosphere conducive to conversation, and inviting folks to join in. You wouldn’t order people to eat a poorly prepared, unappetizing meal for their own good! Four approaches help to ensure success when you prepare to put anything on-the-table:

  1. Establish legitimacy.
  2. Create enabling conditions.
  3. Be strategic.
  4. Be subtle, sometimes.
