It was 1992. I had been growing my company, At Ease Inc., for five years. Then things exploded: USA Today did a story featuring one of our clients putting their “Best Fork Forward.” Because I was the presenter, our firm received the peripheral benefits of this great press.

The phone rang off the hook. If you can imagine, 80 prospects contacted our firm. Several of these prospects are still our clients today.

One of the telephone calls that came in as a result of this coverage was from the head of a major publishing operation. After he acknowledged reading about our firm in USA Today, he asked if I would like to write a book. I thought I was dreaming. “Well, of course,” I said. “However, who are you?” He told me.
