Communication Is Everything!
Some of the most brilliant people have failed miserably in business due to their lack of communication skills.
Here’s a story that illustrates what I mean. A very smart man with a background in technology was in the process of being promoted to manager. The woman to whom he would be reporting, however, felt that he lacked the appropriate interpersonal relationship skills for managing a team. When she called my company to seek help for her new direct report, my first question was, “Is this person open to enhancing his interpersonal relationship skills?”
