Corrosion and CP System Assessment Methods

Abstract

If left undetected, corrosion in a pipeline can have serious consequences. Yet, the process of identifying this corrosion is complicated by the fact that corrosion survey logistics for pipelines are relatively complex. This complexity gives rise to measuring the performance of the corrosion protection system at points of convenience. The need for a proper method to evaluate the retrofit of a cathodic protection (CP) system has led to some innovations in existing survey methods.
