Conservation biologist Kent Redford is about to bring together two camps that so far have not talked to each other at all—conservation biologists and synthetic biologists. To kick start what he deems to be a long overdue exchange of ideas and perspectives, he organized a conference in Cambridge, U.K. in April 2013 titled “How Will Synthetic Biology and Conservation Shape the Future of Nature?”
