A/C (cable) A/C stands for alternating current and refers to the standard electricity required to power the lights, recorder, camera, and so on. When used in production, A/C also refers to the cables into which the lights and other equipment are plugged.

“Action” The director’s cue to crew and actors that the scene should begin.

Alternate An alternate version, usually of a master scene, to provide the director with a different perspective on the action, dialogue, or both.

Ambience The background noise present at any location. Room ambience is also called room tone. Ambience on a street corner would include traffic sounds such as horns honking and perhaps pedestrian chatter.
