THE OFFLINE EDIT
As with the previous chapter, we will discuss the tradi- tional editing processes in the present tense. Keep in mind, however, that many aspects of these traditional processes are negated by contemporary, nonlinear edit- ing systems. In the next chapter, having laid the foun- dation for understanding the editing process, we will move on to modern systems and the student will clearly see how much of a revolutionary improvement the new systems are.
