One of a director’s attributes might be called aesthetic sensitivity. This sensitivity enables a director to con- sider all of the aesthetic elements we have been dis- cussing and to make basic judgments about their credibility or aesthetic quality. When all is said and done, however, no matter how much aesthetic sensitiv- ity a director may have, he or she cannot achieve the goals of creating and maintaining a media illusion with- out a strong ability to work with people.
