Using Envelopes

Envelopes are used to distort the shape of objects. An envelope is like a container placed around an object. The object is takes the shape of the container, becoming distorted in the process. You can shape an envelope with the Shape Tool, the Interactive Envelope Tool, and the nodes that appear around the envelope. The Interactive Envelope Tool works in conjunction with modes and options on the property bar.

To use the Interactive Envelope Tool to shape an object:

Select the Interactive Envelope Tool from the Interactive Tool flyout (Figure 15.1).
