Fitting Text to a Path

Fitting text to a path refers to binding a line of text to the path of an object. As the text moves along the object's path, it assumes the shape of the path. You can fit text to a path interactively or choose a command from the Text menu.

To interactively fit artistic text to a path:

1.
Using the Pick Tool, select the object to which you want to fit the text. The object must either have a closed path or be a line.
2.
Position the Text Tool on the object's path. The cursor changes from the Text Tool's normal cross-hair to an I-beam.
3.
Click to place the insertion marker at the desired starting point on the object or line (Figure 12.15).
