Frames are an important addition to HTML 4.0 and are widely supported by current browsers. The FRAMESET element divides window or current cell into rectangular regions, and HTML documents are associated with the regions by the FRAME element. Hypertext links, forms, and Java applets can target user-defined or standard frame names, specifying that certain documents be displayed in particular frames. The most common frame problems can be avoided by careful design or use of JavaScript. Finally, floating frames provide a logical next step from fixed frames.
