This chapter describes how to specify the major paragraph types or text blocks that appear in the BODY portion of an HTML document. These “block-level” elements define how blocks of text are formatted and displayed by the Web browser. They are in contrast to text-level elements that only affect the appearance of the text. Block-level elements can contain text, text-level elements, and other block-level elements, whereas, text-level elements can only contain text and other text-level elements.
