You don’t need to use advanced strategies to benefit from Holistic Conversion Rate Optimization (HCRO). Even if all you do is implement a few of the ideas presented up to now and split test your ideas regularly, you’re likely to see improvement in your bottom line conversions.
I do want to share some of my out-of-the-ordinary ideas with you. Normally, these strategies are reserved for my clients and my conversion coaching group. Some of my clients have made millions using these exact strategies. They are powerful ideas, based on sound psychological concepts, but some may seem to contradict what logic tells us is correct until you know the logic behind the curtain. We may think people will act a certain way, but in reality they act completely differently, which is why testing is so important. As we discussed in the section on “usability vs. CRO,” sometimes conversions increase when you put obstacles in the way, rather than make the path as smooth as possible. Sometimes the perceived value of a product increases when we’re forced to wait for it.
These strategies aren’t a perfect fit for every business. But they are very creative and fun, and can unlock great gains if implemented correctly. While the strategies I’m sharing here were developed by our team over five years ago, they still deliver breakthrough successes for our clients—right alongside our more recent innovations.
