9.1 Contracts as working documents

Events – Contracts may be signed speedily or only after months of wrangling; in either case the tendency is to breathe a sigh of relief, put the contract in a drawer and forget about it. This assumes that the parties will remember all the contract terms, that all goes to plan and that life stays the same. The evidence, however, is all to the contrary. Imperfect understandings, faulty recollections and changing times all suggest that contracts should be kept under regular review.
