Case Study: Stratifying Content Limits Potential

The concept of content silos is not new and, as discussed earlier, we understand the limitations of content when that content is isolated into departmental silos. The same holds true when content is isolated into silos by genre – that is, content created for marketing is isolated from content created for training, which is isolated from content created by technical writers, which is isolated from content created by customer support. This arbitrary cultural stratification is as toxic as arbitrary content stratification and can easily backfire, as demonstrated in the following case study.
