Content Lifecycle Myths

Until recently, descriptions of the content lifecycle were written up by technologists, usually content management consultants, who described the content lifecycle in the context of a content management system. For their purposes, this description was apropos. Content, for them, was a single object – in technical terms, a BLOB (Binary Large OBject) – that the content management system would route from place to place based on some built-in business logic. The content types were irrelevant, as long as they behaved as BLOBs within the CMS transportation system. The content could be a graphic, a document, or fields of text that traveled together.
