Fear of speaking out

So just why is it that no one wants to stand up and say to Asians that they cannot have it all? One reason was alluded to at the start of this chapter – the idea of having it all is very appealing. Pandering to people’s aspirations, however, is the easy way to go. The biggest reason for avoiding the truth is fear – fear of the terrible consequences of standing up and telling everyone that, quite simply, they cannot have it all.
