As our society becomes ever more connected, manufacturers are experimenting with how all our consumer devices, such as phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), watches, and cameras,may eventually connect to the wireless network. The connection enables these devices to send and receive text, audio, and video data and can significantly enhance the value of each device.

As the number of devices per user proliferates, each device having its own built-in wireless networking capabilities becomes a redundant and costly proposition for end users. No one wants to pay for a wireless connection and associated monthly service fees for each and every device they own.
