Dissatisfaction with the status quo in the world of business and capitalism has been brewing for quite some time. The Occupy movement of 2011 channeled some of this angst into protests that spread to a number of cities, but ultimately did not amount to much because it did not offer a coherent alternative vision.
In recent years, many business thinkers and some CEOs have started to speak of alternative or modified forms of capitalism. In this appendix, we discuss how Conscious Capitalism relates to some of these ideas on how capitalism needs to evolve.
