Foreword

I recently had the honor of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and spent some time reflecting on my 52-year career as a player and coach. I thought about the successes of which I was most proud, the failures that still sting, and the lessons I have learned about teams and participating in the process of leading.

One lesson is that it’s all about the team. The ultimate team sport is football. Everyone must work together and accept his role for the group to succeed. Everyone is needed; no one is essential. All must function as a unit to allow the desired victorious results.
