Developers have increasingly been adopting the strategy of using Java for application portability and XML for message portability. The task of developing enterprise applications with Java and XML has been greatly simplified with the advent of standards-based middleware from a number of major software vendors supporting the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE).
