Performance Considerations

In Database Engineering we have been able to sustain more than 30,000 TPC-C transactions (of all types) per minute (corresponding to around 24,000 users executing very lightweight transactions) on a single 100BaseT Ethernet subnet. Even though most of these transactions use stored procedures, which greatly reduce network traffic, our experience suggests that most end users will be able to comfortably deploy substantial client/server solutions based on a single Fast Ethernet LAN.
