Informix offers—or rather offered, since IBM has now completed its takeover of Informix’s database business—a broad range of database products. The major enterprise database products are Informix Dynamic Server and Extended Parallel Server.
Informix Dynamic Server (IDS)—at the time of this writing, the current version was IDS 2000 Version 9.2—is targeted primarily at Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) applications, web environments, and applications requiring object-relational capabilities.
