System Databases

When ASE is initially installed, a minimum of four system databases are created: the master database, the model database, the system procedures database, referred to as sybsystemsprocs, and the database tempdb for temporary tables. A number of optional databases can also be installed: the auditing database sybsecurity, sample databases pubs2 and pubs3, the dbcc management database, referred to as dbccdb, and a syntax database called sybsyntax, which provides syntax help for Transact-SQL commands. ASE 11.5 also introduced a new database called sybsystemdb, used to track two-phase commits. User databases are then created in addition to these system databases.
