Chapter 3. Solaris Optimizations for Databases

The Solaris Operating Environment (Solaris) includes a number of features and optimizations designed to enhance database performance and availability. These features have been added over a period of years, and new optimizations continue to be applied. Some of these benefits are transparent; that is, they are realized by the database suppliers without any need for code changes. In other cases, database suppliers have modified their products to take advantage of these optimizations.
