FOLLOW SPOTS

Follow spots are used to light the focal points on the stage (Figure 22–1). The follow spots are operated manually; the operator controls the intensity, color, and movement of the spot. Follow spots are positioned in front of the stage in the venue or on the grid above the stage (Figure 22–2). The position of follow spots should be high so that the beam does not wash the entire stage and does not shine in the performer's eyes (Figure 22–3).
