INTERCOM SYSTEMS

The intercom system allows the lighting crew to communicate during a show. The lighting director can cue follow spot operators, and the stage manager can call start and finish cues for the house light operator. Good communication is necessary for a smooth performance (Figure 19–1). Each headset is fitted with a microphone. The belt pack, which connects the headphones to the system, has a call button that lights when any station is calling, an on-off switch for the microphone, and a volume control for station level.
