CONTROL CONSOLES

The control console is used to control the level of each channel and group channels together into scenes.

Manual consoles take the operator's physical movements of the faders and send a control voltage to the dimmers directly related to the position of the fader on the console (Figure 18–1). A fader position of five sends a 5 V DC signal to the dimmer to which it is connected. The more channels on a console, the more complex can scenes become. Most consoles have two presets, which allow the scenes to be preset and then faded in by the scene master.
