Glocalization of the Market

Abstract

The environment surrounding us is always changing. We cannot survive in this changing world—or the unpredictable market—without adapting or changing ourselves. One of the most typical industries is information and communication technology (ICT). In the background of this constantly changing ICT, this book discusses concept-oriented research and development for sustainable society, focusing on three main themes: (1) concept creation, (2) fusion of technologies, and (3) market glocalization. This chapter discusses theme 3 in terms of themes 1 and 2 in the context of the whole book. Economic Survival in this changing environment depends on promotion of these three themes. Glocalization can be achieved by enhancing innovation chains of organizations, intellectual properties, and values.

11.1 Introduction

Regarding the constantly changing environment, Charles Darwin said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but rather the one most adaptable to change” [1,2]. This is true. We cannot survive in this changing world—or the unpredictable market—without adapting or changing ourselves.
