Emerging Trends

Abstract

This chapter heralds emerging trends in network science as of this writing. We discuss social media data mining and developments in communication networks. This chapter points to small-scale networks in vehicles and ones on bodies monitoring vital signals. It emphasizes a call to arms for the study of all things networked. Macropatterns and micropatterns are observed by telecommunication companies for development of connectivity goods for their consumers while governments explore ways to monitor, understand, serve, and possibly control their societies.
