7.5. Summary
In this chapter, I covered the very basics of both IPv4 and IPv6 and how they work in an internetwork (remember that if the word IP is used alone, it is referring to just IPv4). As you now know by reading this chapter, even when discussing and configuring the basics, there is a lot to understand—and we just scratched the surface. But trust me when I say this—you now know more than you'll need to meet the Network+ objectives.
I discussed in detail the difference between each class of address and how to find a network address, broadcast address, and valid host range.
Last, I talked about why we need IPv6 and the benefits associated with it. I followed that up by covering addressing with IPv6 as well as how to use the shortened expressions. ...
