Kerberos

An authentication and encryption method that can be used by Cisco routers to ensure that data cannot be "sniffed" off the network. Kerberos was developed at MIT and was designed to provide strong security using the Data Encryption Standard (DES) cryptographic algorithm.

The core component of any operating system, which handles the functions of memory management, hardware interaction, and program execution.

key

A folder in the Windows Registry that contains subkeys and values, or a value with an algorithm to encrypt and decrypt data.
