Exam Format

The current A+ Essentials exam will ask 100 questions in traditional multiple choice and multiple answer linear format. You will have 90 minutes to complete the exam. You will be faced with questions that require you to choose one answer. For one-answer questions, you will notice circles next to your choices. You will also face questions that require multiple answers. For multiple-answer questions you will notice squares next to your choices and should select more than one choice. The minimum passing score for the exam is a 675 on a scale of 900. CompTIA states that the exam will not ask questions relating to legacy operating systems such as Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. However, it is highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with them just in case. If you noticed earlier, CompTIA also states "references to upgrading from Windows 95 and NT may be made." Very tricky. And, what about the newly released, latest wonder of the world, Microsoft Windows Vista? Hopefully, more will be revealed from the folks at CompTIA. It is likely that yet another exam update is already on the horizon.
