3 The Easy Agent Simulation
Preamble: There exists a huge amount of groundwork in the field of agent-based simulation software. Cynthia Nikolai and Gregory Madey count in their 2009 survey paper as many as 53 agent-based modeling platforms [140], a list which still contains general-purpose frameworks only. There are simulations for a variety of application areas (including scientific applications), written in different programming languages, protected under various license types, and many being free for noncommercial use. Then why does this thesis add another simulation to the list, instead of using an existing one?
