Not having a consistent design language

Abstract

As designers, we are mindful to use consistent designs and strive to use recognizable, repeated patterns for ease of use. But when it comes to the words we use to describe our work to others, we are often inconsistent and provoke miscommunication and misunderstanding.

From buzzword bingo in design meetings to a myriad of names for the same deliverable, to prolific professional debate around what we call our profession and to a chaotic file naming structure we have a broad opportunity to communicate with our audiences more clearly and carefully.
