Goffman on Communicatingand Organizing

Thus far, frame theory has been used to analyze how humans process information, and thus make sense of the world. Frames not only reflect world knowledge or tacit, commonsense knowledge, but also categorize others’ actions and identify social situations. We have also used frame theory to develop conceptualizations of both organizing and communicating. As mentioned previously, in order to provide an integrated framework for analyzing and understanding organizing and communicating, I will synthesize the work of Giddens and Goffman into a theory of structurational interaction.
