Nonlogical Methods for Commonsense Reasoning
Abstract
Why use logic for commonsense reasoning? What about other approaches? We review several other important approaches to commonsense reasoning: qualitative reasoning, analogical processing, probabilistic reasoning, and the society of mind. We assess their strengths and weaknesses and discuss their relationships to the event calculus.
