3×3 Framework Tools

In our experience, using a few key tools is the best way to translate concepts and frameworks into real performance outcomes for your team. Here, we provide you with three tools to help guide you through the three steps of our HPT process. The Part I chapters provide many more useful ways for you to apply the 3×3 Framework to your specific team challenges, but the tools below are the ones to get started with.

Step 1 Tool: Commitments Chartering Process

Chartering can happen in a day-long retreat, or iteratively over many quick meetings. However you choose to charter, you should make sure you are answering certain key questions that get to the heart of the three HPT foundations. Use the questions below as a checklist to ensure you are covering the most important team issues.

Step 2 Tool: Misalignments Worksheet

This tool helps you get specific about potential misalignments that could be preventing your team members from following through on their commitments. The worksheet addresses group problems at the three levels of situational awareness: Interpersonal, Team and Environmental.
